Let me begin with filling you on on life in the Sears' household:
Ethan-
Ethan is now 6 weeks old! Hard to believe! He is doing better with eating, although still spitting up some. We think he might be a little colic, but are just grateful that nothing else is wrong after a trip to the doctor. Sleep has been hit and miss as I am probably a little cautious since he spits up once he is laid down. So, there has been many times of falling asleep snuggling my boy, all to wake up an hour later and not remember what just happened. Although mommy is VERY tired, I wouldn't trade these snuggling times! He is definitely growing too. At 5 weeks he was 11 lbs, 12 oz. He is going to be a big boy, even wearing some 3-6 month things!! But, he is healthy, so I am happy. I love his smiles- even though I am not sure they are actual smiles as much as a face after relieving himself! :) I will take it any way I can get it!! He loves to lay on his stomach, and I think sleeps best that way. We might soon try letting him sleep that way at night and see if that helps. It worked with Payton, so we will see!
Payton-
Payton is 17 months and as active as ever! She LOVES he little brother and lights up when she sees him for the first time in the morning or after a nap. She screams "bubby" and melts my heart! Of course, she is also very jealous. The new thing- when he cries, she runs and jumps in my arms before I have a chance to get him, like she is beating him to me! Ha! She is a character, full of smiles, laughs, and new words. My favorite word- "Peez" AKA Please, and paired with her adorable smile and dimples, it is hard to say no. We taught her to say it when she wants something, but now I think she is learning that it gets her a lot and is trying to use that to her advantage. She loves to be outside, playing in our backyard, going down the slide BY HERSELF (yes, a new thing that makes mommy feel like she is growing up too fast), playing with her doggie, and going for boat rides. SHE LOVES THE BOAT!! She also loves to sit in your lap and hear a book read to her or cuddle and watch a movie. She says "Hi" to everyone she sees and loves to ask for "ice" 24/7. Cracks me up! She is my little sunshine and I just eat her up. Yes, we have had our moments, especially the last few weeks, but she is still my baby girl and always will be!
Kyle-
Kyle is back into the swing of school. He is again teaching at Jimtown Intermediate School, but this year switched to teaching 6th grade. (He was 5th before) So, he knows most of the kids in his class from the previous year, which can either be a good or bad thing- he hasn't decided yet. (He's only in day 3!) He is working hard though, and for that, I am very proud of him. His personality is perfect for teaching and I know those kids are lucky to have him as their teacher this year. Kyle is also coaching again this year, returning to his pride and joy and old high school, Memorial, as the Varsity Assistant. He was busy with that most of the summer and looks forward to practices and games come this fall/winter. (I am still trying to figure out how to take TWO kids to a basketball game to watch daddy, one was hard enough last year....ha!) Other than that, he is a great daddy and has enjoyed some extra "bonding" time with Payton since Ethan has been born. In fact, Payton has BALLED the last three days as Kyle left for school because he used to cuddle with her in the mornings all summer. It breaks Kyle's heart as he leaves too. It's going to be an adjustment for both of them! :)
Me-
Well, I am a mom. So, as you can imagine my days consist of feedings, changing diapers, picking up toys, making milk bottles, changing diapers, getting meals ready, doing dishes (maybe), changing diapers, putting kids down for naps, picking up more toys, watching Elmo, LOTS of snuggling, and changing more diapers. OH and on the lucky days, taking a shower! :) I wouldn't trade it for the world, but I would also be lying if I said it has been easy. It has been a BIG adjustment with two kids, one that I am constantly still trying to get used to. This week started a new routine as Kyle headed back to school, so I have been trying to deal with that. I have also started back at my few First Steps Cases, which I enjoy, but it isn't something I want to do long term. (SEE NEXT BLOG for more on FS and my desire to just be a mom) I am also working hard at our in-home business to earn a car and a trip to the Bahamas, as well as the income we need for me to stay full time at home with my babies!! This is a HUGE desire of my heart, and this company has offered me that chance to fulfill that dream of mine! So, needless to say, I am glad this first week is over with all those new changes and look forward to a weekend with Kyle back at my right hand. In fact, we are kicking the weekend off with some lake time today....WHOO HOO!! :)
So, that is a little update on the Sears Family. I have been terrible at my blog- typing with one hand while holding a baby in the other just isn't easy! :) I hope to get better at this!!!
